The credentials handover is the moment responsibility changes hands. Under section 6 of the terms, once we hand over admin, hosting, server, or DNS credentials to you or your designee, you assume full responsibility for the code, content, configuration, security, data, and outcomes from that point.
What the shift means in practice
- Warranties and included support end at handover, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
- Fixing problems caused by changes we did not make is billable work.
- Unapproved changes to DNS, hosting, code, plugins, or server settings are at your risk.
Before you take the keys
- Decide who on your team actually needs which access. Admin, hosting, and DNS carry different levels of risk.
- Store everything in a password manager, never in a shared spreadsheet or an inbox.
- Change the passwords once the handover is complete, so access is provably yours alone.
- Take a backup before the first change you make.
If something breaks after handover
Tell us what changed. If the problem traces back to a change we did not make, the fix is billable under section 6. If you want us to keep maintaining the site after handover, put that agreement in writing with us rather than assuming it carries over.
Your portal login is separate
Handover covers the site's credentials. Your client portal account stays live either way, and its own rules apply: keep the password confidential, you are responsible for activity under your account, and tell us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized use.
What you own after full payment is covered in What you own when it's done, and the clause itself is section 6 of the Terms of Use. Planning a handover and want a walkthrough first? Contact us.
