Paying by Zelle

When we offer Zelle, it appears as an option at the payment step. It works differently from card in one way that matters, and on the honest reading it is a point in Zelle's favor: it is a push payment. You send the money from your own banking app, we never charge you automatically, and any repeat is set up and controlled by you.

How paying by Zelle works

• Choose Zelle at the payment step. It is offered only when we are set up to receive it; a row that is not switched on yet says so plainly.
• You send the payment from your own banking app.
• For a subscription, if your bank offers scheduled transfers, you can set the repeat up there. It is yours to set and yours to stop. Scheduling is a feature individual banks add on top of Zelle, so it is not universal, and a scheduled transfer can take a business day or two.

You control every payment

There is no stored authorization we can draw on, so we can never pull money from your account. If an expected transfer does not arrive, we notify you, and we may suspend the service if payment remains outstanding after that notice. If you overpay, we return the difference by the same method where possible, or by another method we agree with you. Section 3 of the Terms of Use covers all of this.

Sent transfers are final

Zelle, ACH, and wire transfers are push payments sent from your own bank. Once sent, they are final and cannot be pulled back by us. Any eligible refund of a push payment is handled through the refund process in section 16 of the Terms of Use.
