Detroit Service Area Pages: Which Metro Towns Get a Page

Detroit service area pages are how a business based in Warren, Livonia or Troy shows the work it does in the towns it drives to, since its Google Business Profile carries a single address. This guide covers which Metro Detroit towns should get a page first, how to title and label pages for the place names in this metro that are easy to get wrong, and how to roll the pages out in stages.

UR Local Marketing is a local SEO agency, and our team is based in San Diego, California. Our Michigan Insulation Pros case study documents a Metro Detroit site we rebuilt with 27 service-area landing pages, and its results so far are summarized below.

Why population is only a starting point

The Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates put 4,390,913 people in the Detroit-Warren-Dearborn metro area on July 1, 2025, and 649,095 in Detroit itself. Outside the city, the largest communities in the Vintage 2025 estimates were Warren (137,138), Sterling Heights (133,931), Dearborn (105,611), Clinton Township (101,374), Canton Township (99,714), Macomb Township (95,099) and Livonia (92,603).

Size alone does not pick your towns. Bloomfield Hills, a city of 4,390 residents in the 2025 estimates, has about one thirty-first of Warren's population. Michigan Insulation Pros still aimed service-area pages at Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham and Grosse Pointe, the communities where the case study says it had already built its reputation.

Population tells you how many people live in a town. Your own job records tell you whether the work there is the kind you want more of.

Detroit service area pages: place names that need care

Several names in this metro mean more than one place. For each one below, use the exact name in the page title, the URL and the labels on job photos and reviews, so every part of the page points to the same place.

Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township and West Bloomfield Township

All three are in Oakland County. West Bloomfield Township is the largest, with 66,049 residents in the 2025 estimates, followed by Bloomfield Township (43,904) and the city of Bloomfield Hills (4,390). The same 2025 estimates list two small Bloomfield townships elsewhere in Michigan, in Huron and Missaukee counties, so a Bloomfield Township page reads more clearly with Oakland County in its opening line. Use the full name in the title and the URL, such as bloomfield-township or west-bloomfield-township, and tag photos and reviews the same way. If you serve all three, one page can cover them as long as its title names each one.

Northville and Plymouth: city and township

The city of Northville had 6,013 residents in the Vintage 2025 estimates and straddles the Wayne and Oakland county line, while Northville Township, a separate municipality in Wayne County, had 31,399. Plymouth follows the same pattern in the Vintage 2025 estimates: 9,164 in the city and 27,130 in Plymouth Township. If you serve the city and the township, a title such as Northville and Northville Township says so. If you serve only the township, put Township in the title, the URL and every photo and review label.

Dearborn and Dearborn Heights

Dearborn (105,611 in the Vintage 2025 estimates) and Dearborn Heights (60,664) are separate cities in Wayne County. Give each its own name in page titles and URLs, and label reviews and photos with the right one. If most of your work is in Dearborn Heights, that city gets the page first.

Macomb: the county and the township

Macomb County had 886,221 residents in the Vintage 2025 estimates, and Macomb Township, one community inside it, had 95,099. Clinton Township (101,374 in the Vintage 2025 estimates) and Shelby Township (80,415) sit in the same county. Use Macomb Township in the title and a URL such as macomb-township when you mean the township. A page for the county can serve as a hub that names the towns you serve there and links to their pages.

The five Grosse Pointes

The Grosse Pointes are five separate cities. In the 2025 estimates Grosse Pointe Woods was the largest, with 15,792 residents, followed by Grosse Pointe Park (11,095), Grosse Pointe Farms (9,735), Grosse Pointe (5,490) and Grosse Pointe Shores (2,533), which crosses into Macomb County. A combined page titled The Grosse Pointes can name, in its first lines, the cities where you have done jobs. Label each photo and review on it with the exact city, such as Grosse Pointe Park or Grosse Pointe Farms. When one city builds up enough jobs and reviews, move it to its own page and URL and link to it from the combined page.

Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor (122,233 in 2025) is the largest city in Washtenaw County, which the 2025 estimates count as a metro area of its own. Give Ann Arbor a page with its own title and URL, built from Ann Arbor jobs, photos and reviews. If Ann Arbor work is new for you, it belongs in a later wave.

What the case study shows so far

Michigan Insulation Pros has 27 service-area pages and 8 service pillar pages. The case study reports Search Console figures for late June to late September 2026: in that period the rebuilt site earned 140 clicks from 30,000 Google search impressions. On commercial searches like 'attic insulation michigan' and 'spray foam insulation near me', the service-area pages are still past the first page.

The case study sets page one for those searches as the next goal, with local authority for the town pages as the current work: links and reviews tied to Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Grosse Pointe and the other target communities. Publishing the pages is the first step; the case study shows the links and reviews tied to each town come next.

Rolling out town pages in stages

  • Wave 1: the four to six towns where you already have the most jobs and reviews.
  • Wave 2: towns where you want more work and can collect photos and reviews over the next season.
  • Wave 3: towns at the edge of your radius, added once you have real work there to describe.

For a contractor based in Livonia, for example, wave 1 might be Livonia, Northville and Plymouth if that is where most jobs already are, with Ann Arbor waiting until there is work there to show. On our local SEO plans, each added town page is available as an extra service area page, listed on our pricing page.
