Inland Empire Local SEO for Riverside and San Bernardino Counties

Two counties, 52 cities and towns

Riverside and San Bernardino counties make up the Inland Empire. U.S. Census Bureau Vintage 2025 estimates put Riverside County at 2,544,916 residents and San Bernardino County at 2,224,091 on July 1, 2025. These are whole-county figures, so they include the Coachella Valley, the High Desert and the mountain communities along with the western cities.

The same Vintage 2025 estimates list 52 incorporated cities and towns across the two counties. Fourteen had more than 100,000 residents in Vintage 2025, led by Riverside (323,057), San Bernardino (222,044), Fontana (221,223) and Moreno Valley (214,263).

How we split the region

City figures in this section are U.S. Census Bureau Vintage 2025 population estimates.

West End: Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Chino and Fontana

I-10, SR-60 and SR-210 cross the West End east to west, I-15 crosses it north to south, and Ontario International Airport sits at its center. Ontario (187,013), Rancho Cucamonga (177,856), Chino (96,957), Upland (79,446), Chino Hills (77,519) and Montclair (37,563) sit side by side, and Fontana (221,223) continues the corridor east on I-10 and SR-210.

Riverside, Corona, Norco, Jurupa Valley and Eastvale

Riverside (323,057) is the largest city in the two counties, with neighborhoods from Downtown and the Wood Streets to Arlington, La Sierra, Canyon Crest and Orangecrest, and SR-60, SR-91 and I-215 meet near downtown. Corona (161,734) sits where SR-91, the route into Orange County, meets I-15; our Orange County local SEO page covers that side. Jurupa Valley (107,311), Eastvale (70,594) and Norco (25,081) sit between Riverside and the West End on SR-60 and I-15.

San Bernardino Valley: San Bernardino, Rialto, Colton, Highland, Redlands and Loma Linda

San Bernardino (222,044) is the county seat. SR-210 runs through Rialto, San Bernardino and Highland to Redlands, and I-10 runs through Colton, Loma Linda and Redlands toward Yucaipa. Loma Linda (25,221), home to Loma Linda University Medical Center, is its own target for medical and dental practices. Rialto (106,554) borders Fontana on I-10 and SR-210, so this valley and the West End overlap.

Moreno Valley to Temecula on I-215 and I-15

Moreno Valley (214,263) sits on SR-60 east of Riverside. South of it, I-215 runs through Perris (83,237) and Menifee (118,592), while I-15 runs through Lake Elsinore (75,067) and Wildomar (37,889). Hemet, the Pass and the Coachella Valley

Hemet (93,649) and San Jacinto (56,014) sit in the San Jacinto Valley, reached on SR-74 from I-215 and on SR-79 from Beaumont or Temecula. Calimesa (11,111), Beaumont (60,835) and Banning (31,852) line I-10 up to the San Gorgonio Pass. East of the pass, the Coachella Valley's nine cities had 386,946 residents combined in Vintage 2025, led by Indio (94,269), Palm Desert (53,259), Cathedral City (52,375), Coachella (45,411) and Palm Springs (45,315). Hemet and Indio each have more residents than Perris or Eastvale and get their own targets when you serve them.

High Desert and the Morongo Basin

North of the Cajon Pass, Victorville (141,395) and Hesperia (102,605) sit on I-15, with Apple Valley (75,247) to the east and Adelanto (38,798) to the northwest; the four had 358,045 residents combined in Vintage 2025. Barstow (24,804) sits farther out where I-15 meets I-40, and Yucca Valley (21,887) and Twentynine Palms (25,939) lie on SR-62 in the Morongo Basin. They form a separate target list.

Businesses in the two counties

The Census Bureau's 2023 County Business Patterns count 88,815 establishments with paid employees across both whole counties: 46,244 in Riverside County and 42,571 in San Bernardino County. Selected categories:

• Specialty trade contractors: 6,837, including 1,442 plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors, 1,228 electrical contractors and 351 roofing contractors.
• Automotive repair and maintenance: 2,380.
• Medical and dental offices: 2,650 physician offices (excluding mental health specialists) and 1,904 dental offices.

County Business Patterns leaves out businesses with no paid employees. For trade, auto and medical categories, the Business and Biz+ plans select citations from industry and local directories.

For late June to late September 2026, the case study reports these Google Search Console results: 119 clicks from 27,000 impressions, 'tow truck near me' at an average position of 8.2 across 350 impressions, and 'towing service' and 'towing' both at 8.1.
