Los Angeles, CA - Los Angeles County

Local SEO for Los Angeles County Businesses

Local SEO for businesses in the City of Los Angeles, the other incorporated cities of Los Angeles County and its unincorporated communities: citation building and cleanup, monthly backlinks and, on the Business and Biz+ plans, Google Business Profile enhancements, aimed at the cities and neighborhoods on your priority list, from Long Beach and Glendale to Van Nuys and San Pedro.

The U.S. Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 population estimates count 3,869,089 people in Los Angeles as of July 1, 2025, second among U.S. cities after New York. The same Vintage 2025 estimates put Los Angeles County at 9,694,934 and the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim metro area, which adds Orange County, at 12,844,441, also second in the country. Local SEO here starts with a list of the places you serve, each one named correctly.

Los Angeles County in the Vintage 2025 estimates

By the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 count, the City of Los Angeles holds about 40 percent of the county's residents. The county's 87 other incorporated cities hold 4,882,089 between them in the Vintage 2025 estimates, from Long Beach (450,469) down to the City of Industry (199). Another 943,756 people, nearly one in ten, live in unincorporated areas that the same Vintage 2025 estimates report as the balance of Los Angeles County, including East Los Angeles, which has no row of its own.

That split decides how each place is written. Glendale, Burbank, Long Beach and Pasadena are cities with their own governments. Van Nuys, San Pedro, Koreatown and Hollywood are neighborhoods inside the City of Los Angeles. When you send us your priority list, write each entry the way it is governed, because a page that calls Burbank a Los Angeles neighborhood starts from a wrong fact.

Regions and freeways for an LA County priority list

Each campaign is planned from the priority list you give us: your service area and the cities and neighborhoods you want to rank in, in order. Map Pack and keyword targets are set from it. In a county that runs from Lancaster in the north to Long Beach on the coast, grouping the list by region keeps it workable:

  • North, along I-5 and SR 14: Santa Clarita (Vintage 2025: 228,430), Lancaster (170,084) and Palmdale (161,845).
  • San Fernando Valley and the Verdugos, along US 101, I-5 and SR 134: Glendale (Vintage 2025: 187,160), Burbank (102,988) and San Fernando (23,449), a separate city surrounded by the City of Los Angeles, next to City of LA neighborhoods such as Sylmar, Pacoima and Mission Hills. Van Nuys and North Hollywood, farther south in the Valley, are City of LA neighborhoods.
  • San Gabriel Valley, along I-210 and I-10: Pasadena (Vintage 2025: 135,804), West Covina (105,301), El Monte (105,075) and Alhambra (79,820), east to Pomona (147,807).
  • Gateway cities and Long Beach, along I-710 and I-605: Long Beach (Vintage 2025: 450,469), Downey (108,468), Norwalk (97,104) and South Gate (90,071).
  • South Bay and the harbor, along I-405 and I-110: Torrance (Vintage 2025: 138,391), Inglewood (101,662), Carson (90,808) and Hawthorne (82,741), with San Pedro and Wilmington, City of LA harbor neighborhoods, at the south end of I-110.
  • Westside: Santa Monica (Vintage 2025: 90,082), Culver City (39,452), West Hollywood (34,231) and Beverly Hills (30,764), each a separate city bordered by City of LA neighborhoods.

The list for a body shop on Pacific Coast Highway in Torrance shares almost nothing with the list for a clinic on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, and the target maps differ to match.

What our local SEO service covers in Los Angeles County

Here is what our local SEO service includes, applied to a Los Angeles County list:

  • Audit and targets. First comes an audit covering your Google Business Profile, every existing citation and your review profile. After that, each entry on your list gets its own Map Pack and keyword targets, whether it is a city such as Santa Clarita or a City of LA neighborhood such as Sylmar.
  • Citations in one exact form. 30 listings on Starter, 40 on Business and 80+ on Biz+, built and cleaned with one business name, address and phone. Starter uses general directories, Business uses industry and local directories, tracked, and Biz+ builds deep industry and local stacks. If your address can be written with either Van Nuys or Los Angeles as the city, pick one form and keep it identical across directories, because each variation creates a duplicate listing.
  • Backlinks. Tiered links built each month, about 1,000 across the campaign on Starter, 5,000 on Business and up to 100k dynamic on Biz+, pointed at your site and the landing pages you name, such as a Long Beach or Glendale page. Biz+ adds 2 to 5 guest posts a month on topic-relevant publishers.
  • Google Business Profile enhancements. On Business and Biz+, we handle Q&A, services, posts and UTM tagging each month, so a post can describe recent work in Downey or Alhambra.
  • Monthly reporting. Rankings, Map Pack position and traffic, with citations, content and links adjusted based on what is moving across your list.
  • Extras. An extra service area page for each place you want targeted on its own, such as Burbank or San Pedro; an additional Google Business Profile location for a second real address, such as a second shop in Torrance; and review response management, which answers each review within 24 hours.

Prices for each plan and extra are listed on our pricing page.

Proof from San Diego County

We have no client based in Los Angeles County. Two case studies from San Diego County show the work:

  • [American Collision & Auto Repair](/case-studies/auto-body-seo-case-study-el-cajon-ac-auto-repair), El Cajon. The case study describes an auto body shop with strong Google reviews and no online presence, a WordPress build, and local SEO covering El Cajon and the surrounding East County San Diego communities. Its reported results: PageSpeed 90+, a 5.0 Google rating with verified customer reviews, and 4 service categories with dedicated sections.
  • [Palm Urgent Care & Mental Health](/case-studies/healthcare-local-seo-case-study-palm-urgent-care), four clinics in El Cajon, National City and San Ysidro. The case study describes a site in nine languages with a location page for each clinic. Its Google Search Console figures for late June to late September 2026 show more than 1,000 web search clicks from 99,100 impressions, and 'urgent care near me' at an average position of 5.1.

Both case studies describe website builds, which are priced apart from the local SEO plans.

Los Angeles questions

Can a campaign include Orange County as well?
Yes, if Orange County places are on your priority list. The Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 metro estimates split the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim area into two counties: Los Angeles County with 9,694,934 residents and Orange County with 3,149,507. A business in Long Beach or Cerritos that also works in Anaheim can put both counties' cities in one priority order. Our other location pages are in the [locations hub](/locations).
We run shops in Long Beach and Torrance. Do we need two Google Business Profiles?
Yes. Each real address has its own profile, so two shops mean two profiles. We manage the second one through our Additional Google Business Profile location add-on, with the business name written the same way on both. If you also drive to customers, each profile can list the nearby cities it serves, such as Carson or Lakewood.
Los Angeles County lost residents in the 2025 estimates. Should that change our plan?
The Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates show the county falling from 9,748,868 residents on July 1, 2024 to 9,694,934 a year later, and the City of Los Angeles from 3,872,710 to 3,869,089. A few cities rose in the same Vintage 2025 estimates, including Lancaster, from 168,929 to 170,084, and Monrovia, from 37,816 to 38,264. The estimates count residents and do not measure demand for any service, so the target map still comes from your priority list and the places where you already work.
Our shop is in East Los Angeles. Which city name goes on our listings?
East Los Angeles is an unincorporated community, so it has no row in the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 city estimates. The same Vintage 2025 estimates count its residents within the 943,756 people reported as the balance of Los Angeles County. Whichever city name your address uses, pick one form and keep it identical on your Google Business Profile, your website and every citation, because any variation creates duplicate listings. On your priority list, East Los Angeles goes in as its own entry, separate from the City of Los Angeles.
What do the plans cost for a business in Los Angeles County?
The same three local SEO plans, Starter, Business and Biz+, apply across the county, with prices on our [pricing page](/pricing). They differ in citation count, directory relevance, backlink volume and Google Business Profile enhancements. A business covering several of the county's cities can add extra service area pages, and one with a second address, such as a shop in the Valley and another near the harbor, can add a Google Business Profile location.
