Painting Company SEO Atlanta: ITP and OTP Pages

How an Atlanta painter can split area pages at the I-285 Perimeter, with Census counts of painting contractors by county and our NG Painting case study.

Painting Company SEO Atlanta: ITP and OTP Pages

This guide covers the painting company SEO Atlanta crews can put to work, starting with one decision: which pages sit inside the I-285 Perimeter and which sit outside it. If the jobs your crews take inside the loop differ from the ones they take in Gwinnett or Cobb subdivisions, your site should show that split.

We have no clients in metro Atlanta. The painting example in this guide is our NG Painting case study, from San Diego County, California, and the county figures are U.S. Census Bureau data.

Painting contractors in metro Atlanta, county by county

The Census Bureau's 2023 County Business Patterns lists 681 painting and wall covering contractors with paid employees across the 20 Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell metro counties that have a published figure for the industry. Gwinnett County had 277 of them in the 2023 County Business Patterns, more than Cobb (108), Fulton (66) and DeKalb (41) put together. The same 2023 County Business Patterns counted 41 in Forsyth County and 35 in Cherokee County.

County Business Patterns leaves out businesses with no payroll, so painters who work alone without payroll are missing from these numbers. In a county where the 2023 County Business Patterns counted 277 painting contractor establishments, a page that says only "Gwinnett County painter" describes every one of them. Name the cities and neighborhoods you work in and show jobs from them.

Painting company SEO Atlanta crews can use: two page sets

I-285 loops around the core of the metro, and the two sides go by short names: ITP for inside the Perimeter and OTP for outside it. Build one set of pages for each side you work on. Each page names the neighborhoods or cities it covers, shows jobs from there and describes what those jobs involved.

Both sets link to the same service pages (interior, exterior, cabinets and anything else you sell), so each area page can stay short and specific. A painter who works both sides ends up with two groups of area pages that point to one set of service pages without repeating each other.

Pages for inside the Perimeter

Intown pages cover Atlanta neighborhoods such as Virginia-Highland, Inman Park, Grant Park, Kirkwood, East Atlanta and West End, plus the city of Decatur, which had 25,276 residents in the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates. Write them around the jobs you do there.

  • If much of that work is older houses, say what the prep involves: scraping and priming wood siding, repairing plaster before an interior repaint, or matching old trim profiles.
  • If your firm holds lead-safe certification, state it on these pages and show the certificate.
  • If staging on narrow intown lots or street parking changes how you schedule a job, say how you handle it.
  • Use photos from the neighborhood the page names, labeled with the street or area where you can.

Pages for outside the Perimeter

OTP pages follow the cities and communities your crews reach. In the Vintage 2025 estimates, Gwinnett has cities such as Duluth (33,815), Lawrenceville (32,822), Suwanee (23,034) and Snellville (22,478), reached by I-85, GA 316 and US 78, and Cobb has cities such as Marietta (63,574), Smyrna (57,513) and Kennesaw (37,970). The same Vintage 2025 estimates place most residents of both counties outside any city, so name unincorporated areas such as East Cobb next to the city names.

  • If many of your OTP jobs are subdivision homes under a homeowners association, explain how you handle HOA color approval for an exterior repaint.
  • Show finished homes from the subdivisions and cities the page names.
  • If you paint new construction for builders in Forsyth or Cherokee County, give that work a page of its own, apart from residential repaints.

One Google Business Profile, two page sets

Your Google Business Profile sits at one address, on one side of I-285 or the other. The pages carry the detail: a painter based anywhere in the metro can link its ITP and OTP pages from the same site and list the areas it serves on the profile. A second shop with its own address, say in Kennesaw, can have its profile managed alongside the first through our additional Google Business Profile location extra, sold separately.

Citations point every directory to that one name, address and phone. Each extra service area page, also sold separately, targets one neighborhood or city from your list, such as Kirkwood on the intown side or Suwanee outside the loop.

What the NG Painting case study reports

According to its case study, NG Painting had served San Diego County since 1995, held a BBB A+ rating and had no online presence at all. The build started with a WordPress site covering 9 service categories, which run from residential, commercial and industrial painting to waterproofing, epoxy coating and popcorn ceiling removal.

Local SEO then covered its San Diego County service areas, San Diego, Chula Vista, Coronado, El Cajon, La Mesa and Santee among them. Google Ads campaigns ran with click-to-call optimization and conversion tracking, and a free estimate form collected leads.

The case study documents the build and publishes no ranking or lead figures. The website build and the Google Ads campaigns sit outside our Local SEO plans, which include neither. The structure is what applies to an Atlanta painter: one page per area served, written from the work done there. The NG Painting case study has the full build.
