Seattle, WA - Seattle-Tacoma

Local SEO in Seattle for King, Pierce and Snohomish Businesses

The Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates count 4,161,883 people in the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metro area, spread across King, Pierce and Snohomish counties and divided by Lake Washington and Puget Sound. Local SEO in Seattle begins with a ranked list of the places you serve, then points citations, backlinks and your Google Business Profile at them.

Seattle is the largest city in Washington, and the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates give it 784,777 residents on July 1, 2025, under a fifth of its metro area's total. What follows are the Seattle-Tacoma facts a Local SEO plan here has to account for, the scope of the service, and two case studies from other regions.

Three counties, three metropolitan divisions

In the Vintage 2025 estimates, the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metro area grew by 43,068 residents in the twelve months to July 1, 2025. The metro area has three metropolitan divisions of one county each, and the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates give them 2,344,939 residents in Seattle-Bellevue-Kent (King County), 946,288 in Tacoma-Lakewood (Pierce County) and 870,656 in Everett (Snohomish County).

Tacoma (229,816), Bellevue (154,193), Kent (134,871), Everett (113,567) and Renton (104,975) follow Seattle as the metro's largest cities in those Vintage 2025 estimates. Your business address sits in one of the three divisions, and the priority list you hand us for the audit should start in that county and move outward along the roads you use.

Unincorporated communities in Pierce and Snohomish

The Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 city and town estimates place 444,304 of Pierce County's residents, close to half, outside any incorporated city or town, along with 378,282 in Snohomish County. King County is different: in the Vintage 2025 estimates, 242,507 of its residents lived in unincorporated areas and the rest in Seattle and 38 other incorporated cities and towns wholly or partly inside the county.

Spanaway, Parkland and Frederickson in Pierce County, and Martha Lake and Mill Creek East in Snohomish County, are unincorporated, so a list of cities leaves them out. If your customers live there, add those community names to your priority list beside the incorporated cities so the audit maps targets for them. The one that matters most can get an extra service area page, which is sold separately.

Lake Washington, Puget Sound and the corridors

Lake Washington separates Seattle from Bellevue and Kirkland on its east shore, with Redmond farther east and Mercer Island in the lake between them. The I-90 floating bridges cross by way of Mercer Island, and the SR 520 floating bridge lands at Medina. Puget Sound sets the western edge. Vashon Island belongs to King County, yet it has no bridge to the mainland, and Washington State Ferries reach it on routes that include Fauntleroy in West Seattle and Point Defiance in Tacoma.

North and south, I-5 ties Everett, Lynnwood, Seattle, Federal Way and Tacoma together, I-405 carries Eastside traffic from Renton to Bothell, and SR 167 runs through the valley cities of Renton, Kent and Auburn. A plumber in West Seattle and one in Kirkland both have Seattle-area addresses, yet the water between them means their priority lists should differ. The monthly report then tracks Map Pack position for the areas each list names.

Businesses in the three counties

Counting only establishments with paid employees, the Census Bureau's 2023 County Business Patterns found 110,685 in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties, 70,376 of them in King County. A Kent electrician with paid employees is one of the 8,239 specialty trade contractor establishments that the 2023 County Business Patterns counted in the three counties. Citation relevance is set by plan: general directories on Starter, tracked industry and local directories on Business, and Biz+ going deeper with industry and local citation stacks.

What Local SEO includes for a Puget Sound business

Our local SEO service is scoped by plan, and each piece below is pointed at the Seattle neighborhoods, Eastside cities and Pierce or Snohomish communities on your list:

  • Starting audit. Your Google Business Profile, existing citations and review profile are reviewed first, and Map Pack and keyword targets are then set for each area on the list.
  • Citation listings. Starter covers 30 listings, Business 40 and Biz+ 80 or more, built or cleaned so every one shows the same business name, address and phone. Any variation creates duplicate listings, so the version you give us is the one every directory gets.
  • Link building. Tiered backlinks go out every month. Campaign totals by plan: Starter about 1,000 links, Business about 5,000 and Biz+ up to about 100k dynamic, with Biz+ also placing 2 to 5 guest posts each month on topic-relevant publishers.
  • Profile and reviews. Every plan optimizes your profile and supports review generation. Business and Biz+ add a monthly set of profile enhancements (Q&A, posts, services and UTM tagging), and Starter leaves those out.
  • Monthly report. Each month's report shows your rankings, Map Pack position and traffic; next month's citation, content and link work is guided by what it shows is moving.
  • Extras. Priced separately: an extra service area page for a single area such as Kirkland or Spanaway, a second Google Business Profile location for another real address, and review response management.

Plan inclusions and extras sit on our pricing page. Google's own Business Profile help page on local ranking (opens in new tab) is there for reference.

Case studies from outside the Seattle metro

We have no client in the Seattle metro. The two case studies below come from other regions and are linked so you can read each one in full.

Our luxury transportation case study is about Enroute Limousine Services, a Southern California company. Its results name four service areas (San Diego, Orange County, LA and Palm Springs), and it describes a WordPress and Elementor website with 6 dedicated service pages, one of them for airport transportation. The case study also reports that bookings rose in all four regions.

Our Safe Towing case study is about Safe Towing LLC of Louisville, Kentucky. Its results report 17 service areas, each a Louisville neighborhood with its own coverage and response times, plus a Google rating of 5.0 from 44+ verified Google reviews. The websites described in both case studies were web design builds, separate from the Local SEO plans on this page.

Starting with our team

Our team works from El Cajon, California. Before the audit we ask for manager access to your Google Business Profile, your business name, address and phone exactly as they should appear everywhere, your website plus the landing pages you care about most, the category and services you sell, and a ranked list of areas, whether it opens with Ballard, Bellevue or Puyallup. Google Analytics and Search Console read access lets the monthly report include your traffic.

Seattle questions

My business is in Tacoma. How should I order my service areas?
Start with the places you serve most and work outward. In the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates, Lakewood had 62,755 residents, Puyallup 42,682 and University Place 35,479, and all three border or sit close to Tacoma in Pierce County. King County cities such as Federal Way or Kent belong on the list only if you work there, and the audit follows the order you give when it sets Map Pack and keyword targets.
Should my Seattle list name neighborhoods such as Ballard or Capitol Hill?
If you serve them, yes. Seattle had 784,777 residents in the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates, and a single entry reading Seattle does not say which parts of the city you reach. Name the neighborhoods you work in, such as Ballard, Fremont, Capitol Hill, the University District or West Seattle, and choose the few that justify an extra service area page.
Do Medina, Clyde Hill, Hunts Point and Yarrow Point count as Bellevue?
They are separate incorporated cities and towns along SR 520, with 2,974, 3,161, 461 and 1,143 residents in the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates. If you work there, list them by name next to Bellevue and Kirkland so the audit maps targets for them. Whether any of them needs an extra service area page depends on how much of your work comes from there.
My business is near Sea-Tac Airport. Which city names belong on my list?
The airport sits in the city of SeaTac, which had 34,578 residents in the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates. Its neighbors Tukwila (22,003 in the same Vintage 2025 estimates) and Burien (51,859) are separate cities as well. Name each one you serve, alongside any Seattle neighborhoods you reach from there.
We also have an Everett location. Can you manage both?
Yes, if the Everett location is a real address. Our pricing page lists a second Google Business Profile location as an extra, managed alongside the first. Everett is the seat of Snohomish County and anchors its own metropolitan division, so give that location its own priority list, for example Marysville, Mukilteo and Lynnwood.
