Local SEO in San Antonio, From Bexar County to New Braunfels

San Antonio counted 1,548,422 residents on July 1, 2025, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 population estimates, seventh among U.S. cities. Its one-year gain of 14,359 residents was the third largest of any U.S. city in those Vintage 2025 estimates, behind Charlotte and Fort Worth. The same Vintage 2025 estimates count 2,813,140 people in the San Antonio-New Braunfels metro area, 24th among U.S. metro areas, and about 45 percent of them live outside San Antonio city limits. Eight counties, with the fastest growth north and east of Bexar County

Eight counties make up the metro area in the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 metro estimates. Bexar County had 2,160,088 residents, about 77 percent of the total, and the city sits almost wholly inside it: 1,548,411 of San Antonio's Vintage 2025 residents are in Bexar County and 11 are in Medina County. In those Vintage 2025 estimates, Comal County (209,166) and Guadalupe County (201,111) come next, followed by Medina (56,881), Wilson (56,139), Atascosa (53,590), Kendall (53,289) and Bandera (22,876).

In the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates, Comal County grew 29.6 percent from the April 2020 estimates base to July 2025, Kendall County 20.3 percent and Guadalupe County 16.4 percent, against 7.5 percent for Bexar County. Between July 2024 and July 2025 the metro added 38,402 residents in the Vintage 2025 estimates, 21,146 of them in Bexar County and 7,680 in Comal County. A Bexar County business that takes jobs in New Braunfels, Schertz or Cibolo is working across county lines, and its pages should name those cities and the counties they sit in.

Loops and highways that sort a San Antonio service area

The priority city list you hand us at the start decides where the Map Pack and keyword targets go. Around San Antonio, two rings, Loop 410 and Loop 1604, and the highways crossing them give that list a practical order:

• I-35 northeast: Live Oak, Selma, Schertz and New Braunfels, which reached 122,492 residents in the Vintage 2025 estimates.
• Loop 1604 and FM 78, northeast and east: Universal City beside JBSA-Randolph, Converse, and Cibolo farther out toward Seguin. In the Vintage 2025 estimates, Converse had 32,481 residents and Cibolo 39,019.
• I-10 east: Seguin, the Guadalupe County seat, with 41,048 residents in the Vintage 2025 estimates.
• I-10 northwest: Fair Oaks Ranch, which spans Bexar, Kendall and Comal counties, and Boerne in Kendall County.
• Bandera Road (SH 16) northwest: Leon Valley and Helotes.
• US 281 north: Hollywood Park and Hill Country Village inside Bexar County, then Bulverde in Comal County.
• US 90 west: Castroville and Hondo in Medina County.
• US 181 southeast and US 281 south: Floresville in Wilson County and Pleasanton in Atascosa County.

A company based in Helotes and one based in Cibolo would hand us different lists, so their target maps differ from the first month.
