Denver, CO - Denver Metro
Local SEO in Denver, from Aurora to the Foothills
Local SEO for companies in Denver and the surrounding metro: a Google Business Profile audit, directory listings that match word for word, monthly link building and Google Business Profile optimization, aimed at your own list of cities, from Aurora and Lakewood to Thornton, Centennial, Castle Rock and the I-70 foothills.
The U.S. Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 population estimates count 740,613 people in Denver as of July 1, 2025, and 3,092,037 in the ten-county Denver-Aurora-Centennial metro area, which ranks 19th among U.S. metro areas in those Vintage 2025 figures. On the same Vintage 2025 numbers, fewer than one in four metro residents live in the city. Denver is a consolidated city and county, so the city and Denver County share one boundary and one population count in the Vintage 2025 estimates.
The first question for any Denver campaign is geographic: which of those ten counties, and which cities inside them, bring you work, and in what order.
Ten counties with uneven growth
The ten counties in the Vintage 2025 estimates are Denver (740,613 residents), Arapahoe (673,820), Jefferson (580,451), Adams (554,668), Douglas (399,396), Broomfield (79,174), Elbert (30,534), Park (18,314), Clear Creek (8,994) and Gilpin (6,073). Over the year to July 1, 2025, the Vintage 2025 estimates show the metro gaining 10,945 residents, and the gain was uneven. In that Vintage 2025 count, Douglas County added 6,345 residents and Adams County 5,411, while Arapahoe County lost 1,940 and Denver lost 978.
Much of the suburban population lives outside any city limits. The Vintage 2025 estimates place 213,606 of Douglas County's residents and 197,023 of Jefferson County's outside any incorporated town, in communities such as Highlands Ranch, Ken Caryl and Evergreen. Those communities have no city government, yet each is a real place with its own name, so it belongs on your list and in your page copy wherever you work there.
The routes that order a Denver service area
When you order, you list the cities you want to rank in, most important first, and we draw the Map Pack and keyword targets from that ranking. In the Denver metro the highways give the list a workable shape; each figure below is a Census Bureau Vintage 2025 estimate:
- I-25 and US 85 south: Englewood, the Denver Tech Center, Greenwood Village, Centennial (Vintage 2025: 108,658), Lone Tree and Castle Rock (Vintage 2025: 83,815), with Parker (Vintage 2025: 65,985) to the east.
- I-25 north and US 36: Thornton (Vintage 2025: 147,766), Northglenn, Westminster (Vintage 2025: 116,182) and Broomfield.
- I-225 and I-70 east: Aurora (Vintage 2025: 410,053), the second-largest city in the metro.
- I-76 northeast: Commerce City (Vintage 2025: 72,345) and Brighton (Vintage 2025: 45,395).
- US 6 and I-70 west: Lakewood (Vintage 2025: 156,927), Wheat Ridge, Arvada (Vintage 2025: 122,901) and Golden, then Evergreen and Idaho Springs in the foothills and mountains.
C-470 and E-470 tie the southern and eastern suburbs together. A shop in Castle Rock would open its list with Douglas County towns, while a shop in Arvada would open with Jefferson and Adams County ones, and each list produces its own target map.
Cities that straddle county lines
Several large cities straddle county lines. In the Vintage 2025 estimates, Aurora's residents split three ways: 344,658 in Arapahoe County, 61,110 in Adams County and 4,285 in Douglas County. The same Vintage 2025 data divide Westminster between Adams County (70,485) and Jefferson County (45,697), and Arvada between Jefferson County (120,108) and Adams County (2,793). Littleton reaches into Arapahoe, Jefferson and Douglas counties in the Vintage 2025 estimates.
Your listings carry one exact business name, address and phone whichever county you sit in. Where a page mentions counties, list all of them for the city it covers: an Aurora page that names Arapahoe County alone leaves out part of the city.
How our local SEO work applies in Denver
Here is what our local SEO service does for a business with a Denver metro list:
- Audit and targets. We start by reviewing your Google Business Profile, your existing directory listings and your reviews, then set Map Pack and keyword targets city by city, from Denver neighborhoods to suburbs such as Parker or Arvada.
- Citations. Directory listings are built or corrected so your name, address and phone read the same everywhere. Starter covers 30 general directories, Business covers 40 picked for industry and local fit, and Biz+ covers 80+ across deep industry and local stacks. The industry directories follow your primary category. Denver County had 1,192 offices of lawyers with paid employees in the Census Bureau's 2023 County Business Patterns, and Douglas County had 128 in the same 2023 data.
- Backlinks. Tiered links go out every month toward your site and the landing pages you pick, such as a Castle Rock or Golden page. Volume over the campaign runs to about 1,000 on Starter, about 5,000 on Business and up to about 100k dynamic on Biz+, which also places 2 to 5 guest posts a month with topic-relevant publishers.
- Google Business Profile. Every plan includes profile optimization and support for review generation. Business and Biz+ add a monthly round of posts, Q&A, services and UTM tagging.
- Extras. Three add-ons fit a metro this wide: an extra service area page for a suburb or mountain town you want to rank in on its own, an additional Google Business Profile location for a second staffed address such as a Golden shop, and review response management, which answers each review in your voice within 24 hours.
Current plans and add-ons are listed on our pricing page.
Proof from outside Colorado
We have no clients in the Denver metro, so the work we can show comes from other markets. Prime Towing, covered in our Prime Towing case study, is a towing company in Houston, Texas. We gave it 11 service pages, winch out and extraction among them, plus 16 service area pages aimed at 6+ cities including Katy, Sugar Land and Missouri City, and the case study lists a 4.8 Google rating on 53+ verified Google reviews and 693+ customer interactions a month through its website and Google.
Mal Al Sham, covered in our Mal Al Sham case study, is a Syrian restaurant in El Cajon, California, with Clover online ordering and local SEO across 40+ neighborhood keywords. Per the case study, online orders grew 250% through the integrated Clover system and organic search impressions across San Diego County rose 400%.
For scale, the 2023 County Business Patterns show at least 77 towing establishments with paid employees in the metro (the published county figures), 28 of them in Adams County, and Denver County alone had 840 full-service restaurants in that 2023 data.
