Austin, TX - Greater Austin

Local SEO for Austin Businesses, From Georgetown to San Marcos

Local SEO for Austin businesses and the suburbs they serve: an audit, citation listings, monthly backlinks and Google Business Profile work, pointed at the cities on your priority list, from Round Rock and Georgetown up I-35 to Kyle and San Marcos down it.

The Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 population estimates put Austin at 1,002,632 residents on July 1, 2025, fifth among Texas cities after Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Fort Worth. The same Vintage 2025 estimates count 2,620,945 people in the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos metro area, 25th among U.S. metro areas, so about 62 percent of Greater Austin lives outside the Austin city limits. Which of those places you serve decides where your citations, links and pages point.

The five counties of Greater Austin

In the Vintage 2025 estimates the metro area covers Travis County (1,389,670 residents), Williamson County (752,827), Hays County (304,390), Bastrop County (118,908) and Caldwell County (55,150). From July 2024 to July 2025 the metro grew by 53,796 people in the Vintage 2025 estimates, and Williamson County's 23,814 was the largest county gain, ahead of Travis County's 14,749.

County lines also run through the city. The Vintage 2025 estimates place 929,657 of Austin's residents in Travis County, 72,071 in Williamson County and 904 in Hays County. The larger suburbs split too: in the same Vintage 2025 estimates, Round Rock, Cedar Park and Leander each sit mostly in Williamson County with a Travis County share, while Pflugerville sits almost entirely in Travis County. If a page or listing names a county, take it from your street address.

Corridors that order a Greater Austin service area

Our intake asks you to rank the cities you want to reach. Around Austin, the highways leaving your base give that ranking an order:

  • I-35 north: Round Rock, Georgetown and Jarrell, with Hutto and Taylor east of Round Rock on US 79. In the Vintage 2025 estimates, Round Rock has 141,282 residents, Georgetown 106,907, Hutto 46,048 and Taylor 18,402.
  • US 183 northwest: Cedar Park, Leander and Liberty Hill. Leander counts 91,132 residents in the Vintage 2025 estimates, Cedar Park 79,032 and Liberty Hill 13,317.
  • SH 130 and US 290 east: Pflugerville along SH 130, then Manor and Elgin on US 290. The Vintage 2025 figures are 68,316 for Pflugerville, 23,070 for Manor and 13,327 for Elgin.
  • I-35 south: Buda, Kyle and San Marcos, all in Hays County. San Marcos has 77,830 residents in the Vintage 2025 estimates, Kyle 69,917 and Buda 16,166.
  • SH 71 and US 290 west: Bee Cave and Lakeway toward Lake Travis, and Dripping Springs on US 290. The Vintage 2025 estimates put Lakeway at 19,027, Dripping Springs at 11,167 and Bee Cave at 8,464.
  • SH 71 east and US 183 south: Bastrop in Bastrop County and Lockhart in Caldwell County. Lockhart has 18,159 residents and Bastrop 13,383 in the Vintage 2025 estimates.

A list written a few years ago can leave out cities that have since grown. In the Vintage 2025 series, Georgetown went from an April 2020 estimates base of 67,436 to 106,907, Leander from 59,235 to 91,132 and Liberty Hill from 3,536 to 13,317.

How our Local SEO work applies in Greater Austin

Our Local SEO service delivers the following, pointed at the Greater Austin cities you rank:

  • Starting audit. The first step looks at your Google Business Profile, the citations already out there and your review profile, and ends with Map Pack and keyword targets for each city on your list, whether it leads with Round Rock and Georgetown or with Kyle and San Marcos.
  • Directory listings. Citations are built and cleaned with a single version of your name, address and phone. Starter places 30 on general directories, Business 40 on industry and local ones, and Biz+ 80+ across deep industry and local stacks. A North Austin address in Williamson County goes onto every directory exactly as written, since any variation creates duplicate listings.
  • Backlinks. Tiered links go out every month to your site and to the pages you nominate, such as a Cedar Park or Pflugerville page. Link volume across the campaign is roughly 1,000 with Starter, roughly 5,000 with Business and as many as roughly 100,000 dynamic links with Biz+, and Biz+ adds 2 to 5 monthly guest posts on publishers that fit your topic.
  • Profile enhancements. Business and Biz+ add posts, Q&A, services and UTM tagging to your profile every month; Starter has no enhancements.
  • Monthly reporting. You see rankings, Map Pack position and traffic every month, and we steer citations, content and links toward whatever is moving.
  • Extras. A separate service area page for any suburb you want to rank on its own, such as Hutto or Buda; the Additional Google Business Profile location extra for a second real address you operate, say a Georgetown shop next to a South Austin one; and review response management, which sends a reply in your voice to each review within 24 hours.

Each tier and extra is listed on our pricing page.

Proof from outside Greater Austin

We have no clients in Greater Austin. The two case studies referenced on this page both come from San Diego County, California:

  • [Nay International](/case-studies/luxury-wellness-ecommerce-seo-case-study-nay-international), an e-commerce brand selling premium Omani frankincense, listed in San Diego, California. Its case study reports a 4.9 average customer rating across 127+ verified reviews and orders that ship within 48 hours globally. Its services-used list reads Web Design, Web Hosting and SEO Services, without Local SEO.
  • [Mal Al Sham](/case-studies/restaurant-marketing-case-study-mal-al-sham-el-cajon), a Syrian restaurant in San Diego County, California, whose local SEO targeted 40+ neighborhood keywords. In the case study's results, organic search impressions across San Diego County rose 400%, online ordering through the integrated Clover system grew 250%, and the restaurant holds 1,500+ five-star Google reviews.

Those results belong to two San Diego County businesses. They show the kind of work we would scope for an Austin company, and they are no forecast for an Austin campaign.

Austin questions

Can you take on a business in Round Rock, Cedar Park or Georgetown?
Yes, if you serve them. Round Rock (141,282 residents), Georgetown (106,907) and Cedar Park (79,032) are three of the larger cities in Williamson County in the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates. Rank the ones you serve on your city list, and any of them can get an extra service area page if you want to target it by itself.
My Austin address is in Williamson County. What changes?
Your name, address and phone stay identical on every directory, as they would anywhere. The Vintage 2025 estimates place 72,071 of Austin's residents in Williamson County, at the north end of the city, so if your pages or listings name a county, use Williamson for that address.
I have locations in South Austin and Kyle. How do you handle two addresses?
Your second real address runs through the Additional Google Business Profile location extra, managed alongside the first. Both locations use one exact business name, and each keeps one exact address and phone. Kyle has 69,917 residents in the Vintage 2025 estimates. If you also want to reach Buda or San Marcos from that location, each can get its own extra service area page.
Which Local SEO plan includes Google Business Profile posts?
Business and Biz+ do. Both run a monthly cycle of posts, Q&A, services and UTM tagging on the profile; Starter has none of it. For a business covering several I-35 cities, those posts can reference work in Round Rock, Kyle or San Marcos. Every plan is listed on our [pricing page](/pricing).
Can you target San Marcos separately from Austin?
Yes. San Marcos is its own city in Hays County, with 77,830 residents in the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates, and it is one of the three cities in the metro area's official name. If you serve it, rank it on your priority list and give it an extra service area page so it has its own targets in the audit and its own page for links to point at.
